Why Choose Local

Pittsburgh Skyline

Posted on May 8, 2023 by Evan Stein

Pittsburgh Proud

Choosing local isn’t just about visiting the Bloomfield Farmer’s Market on Saturdays and picking out some fresh produce. It’s not just about visiting Love, Pittsburgh in the Strip District, and supporting your favorite Pittsburgh artisans. And it’s not just about making sure that 87% of your wardrobe is black and yellow. You can choose local for your Internet services as well. Green Light Wireless is locally owned and operated and deeply invested in the Pittsburgh community.

Moreover, you shouldn’t just throw electronic waste out with this week’s trash. Proper electronic recycling, or e-cycling,  prevents harmful contaminants from seeping into our environment.  Sometimes electronics recycling is easier said than done, but luckily we have several options for ways to safely and responsibly recycle electronics.

We’re #PittsburghProud of Lawrenceville

Posted on February 18, 2023 by Evan Stein

There are so many neighborhoods we love in Pittsburgh. (Don’t make us pick favorites, we refuse!) From Friendship to Bloomfield, to Shadyside and beyond, they each have their own unique personality. A Je ne sais quoi, if you will. While we can’t pick one favorite, we can pick a favorite to highlight—Lawrenceville—good old 15201.

With over 250 locally owned businesses on Penn Avenue and Butler Street alone and minutes from ‘Dahntahn’, Lawrenceville is a great place for lunch, a weekend, or your new home neighborhood. Our friends over at Visit Pittsburgh give Lawrenceville high praise, “If you’re looking for a fun, hip neighborhood with lots of cool things to do, spend the day in Lawrenceville?.” Tripadvisor included Lawrenceville among the City’s coolest neighborhoods.

Here are some of our favorite nooks and crannies of Lawrenceville.

Phone Emergency Features

Emergency Phone Services

Posted on January 23, 2023 by Evan Stein

We talk a lot about ensuring the security of your Wi-Fi-enabled devices, but your devices can also keep you safe in an accident or a medical emergency. While smartphones and smartwatches have robust safety features, many require a little work on your end to connect you to the help you need in an emergency.

Additionally, it’s important to learn how to find medical information and emergency contacts on both iPhone and Android phones.  Should you find yourself attending to someone in an emergency situation, you will already know where to look to access their critical information.

Is Someone Spooky Following You on the Internet?

Posted on October 25, 2022 by Evan Stein

We all love spooky season — fall leaves, candy, and our favorite scary movies. Watching a monster follow someone may be thrilling on a tv screen, but it is much more frightening behind a computer screen. Has something you plan to buy ever suddenly shown up in your social media feed? Or have you discussed something and an article about that topic appears? Are you paranoid, is your phone listening, or is someone following you around the Internet?

People using wi-fi Internet on their devices

Posted on March 22, 2022 by Evan Stein

Wi-Fi stands for wireless fidelity. Just like hi-fi or lo-fi. (Kids, ask your parents.)

But while the acronym stands for wireless fidelity, there’s no such thing as wireless fidelity. Confused yet?
